Meet Charlie!

One of the easiest editing jobs I've had. She's one of the most cutest kids I've photographed. Her name, Charlie, fits her and her personality. She's sooooo cute.




I tried some different processing here. A little less traditional and a little bit of funkiness. I hope Mom and Dad like it. I'm always afraid to branch out to stuff I like with customers (normally I just save that for pictures of Lola) because I'm afraid they'll look at them and think "OMG, what the heck is this!" We'll see. Anywho I had fun with Charlie!

Yes his eyes are THAT blue!

That's Griffin. Look at those eyes. He's a complete natural in front of the camera. Something about having a baby brother fascinates Lola. She was with me at this session and she thought Griffin was her new baby brother. Now she's asked me before when I've done sessions with baby boys but it never gets any less funny. How do you explain to a 3 year old that you don't just go to the store and pick up milk, cheese, bread and baby brother? Oh if it were only that easy. =D

Soooo far behind.

I had my monitor calibrated. Let me tell you it's been a process. Calibrating, order test prints, calibrating, ordering test prints. So I got a bit behind on my sessions and hence my blog. Here are some from my recent sessions:

CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE!!!

Okay, I didn't mean to make all of you sick by hearing that!! But it's just a reminder that the last day for holiday sessions to get pictures back in time for Christmas is November 18th! Even though you may not want to think about Christmas when it's 100 degrees outside and all you want to do is lay in a pool with a margarita in hand, but planning ahead makes it so much easier. Pictures of the kids or family make great, inexpensive gifts for everyone on your list!! Schedule your session today.

On another note. I have been so busy I haven't had one second to edit and post our California pictures. I apologize. I promise to get to that ASAP!!

Exciting NEWS!!!

Well around this time next year (hopefully, if everything goes according to plan...*crossing everything and knocking on every piece of wood around*) we'll be opening a studio. YEAH!!

That's right! Lola & Me will offer in studio AND on location photo sessions. This will be very exciting and as more news becomes available we'll be sure to keep you posted!!

Our trip to CA was awesome. Mexican food, morning, noon and night. Shamefully not a lot of pictures though. I was so busy. We had a 3rd birthday party for Lola and it was so much fun. Lola's Papa (my dad) had surgery as well so it was a dual purpose trip. He had some complications but is doing much better now. I will post a few pictures once I get caught up with my orders, editing and current sessions.

California here we come!

We (me, my husband and Lola) are heading to California. It's our (me and Lola) birthdays and my awesome husband is taking us all to California (where I'm from) to visit my family and friends who I miss sooooooo very much!!!

We are throwing Lola a birthday party there and all of her cousins and other family will be there. She's specifically requested a Spongebob Squarepants birthday cake, lots of presents, balloons, and a horse-y pinata. It's probably no surprise each and every request will be met in addition to a huge bounce house. SSHHhhhhh....waiting for Lola in our garage for when we get home from CA:

IT ROCKS!!! She is gonna be so stoked! When she is driving in my car and she sees a racing car like a mustang she says to me, "older, I can have that car.".... TRANSLATION: "When I get older I can have that car." My response: Yes when you get older, get a job, pay your own insurance you can have a car. Ha Ha.

I plan on taking tons of pictures and will post as soon once I get home after I catch up on all of my session work.

We plan on eating tons of awesome California mexican food, relaxing and visiting with our family friends. We will see you when we return.

SIMON SAYS!

I have a new best friend! Simon. He's super sweet. When I was shooting him today he walked right over, turned around and sat right on my lap. Now I could really just eat him up. He was so sweet. And check out those blue eyes!! He needs to be in commercials.

My First Canvas!

Not much to say, except, isn't it beautiful! I really need to get on the ball and find an image of Lola to make one.

As promised...

Lola and I walked around Middleburg VA today with our teddybear and camera in tow.





The first one is gonna be Lola's present to Daddy for father's day in a 30x15 canvas. We are so excited. Once the canvas comes in we'll post some pics. I'm still trying to find a pic for the BIG canvas. Stay Tuned.

I just finished 2 great sessions....

Last weekend I had 2 really great sessions. One was with Noah. The most adorable sweet little boy. I have a maternity session with Noah's mom in a few weeks because Noah is going to be a big brother! YEAH! Here are a few faves:





Then there was Ryan. Where do I start with Ryan.... I could could have just ate him up. The biggest most beautiful eyes and the sweetest personality. Ryan's gonna be a big brother too. The whole family was a photogs dream. They couldn't take a bad picture if they tried. Here are some of my faves:





I've had an idea. I really need to find bellies. Bellies for more artistic shoots (i.e., dramatic lighting, sitting in a field or meadow maybe in a really cool chair, silhouette, etc). Still tossing this one around but I may have some kind of "show me your belly" or "fresh bellies" campaign. I haven't figured out the logistics (i.e., discounts) etc....but hopefully when I have a moment (so many bookings....I LOVE IT) I can figure this one out. Because I really need to get my creative juices flowing on this one. The other trick is finding to-be moms willing to participate. Most want really traditional poses. I really need to stretch my creative muscles.

On another note I've been so busy shooting other kids I've planned some time to shoot Lola this weekend. My Saturday shoot rescheduled so I'm gonna take Lola out scouting for new locations. I'll post some of those as soon as I get a second.

My new website is up and running.

How do you like it?

I have decided to change the music on my website. Go against my original feelings where I just wanted music without words. Have you ever heard of Frances England. My daughter has had her album and loves it. Well I bought this new template for my site and her music was playing so I think I'm going to keep it. Her music fits perfectly with the feeling I want for my site and business. Still trying to decide. Thoughts are appreciated on this topic. Check out her site:

As for my photography I'm booked almost through June! I'm so excited this has taken off. I love my photography. My goal is to wrap up portfolio building by fall 2007. My new website is up and I am in the process of developing my marketing materials. I will post pics as I finish them up.

Being from CA I'm used to much milder weather. Weather that allows shooting outdoors nearly all year-long. Here in VA I've had to go indoors for 4-5 months almost. Which makes me think my next step will need to be to invest in studio equipment and possibly even a studio. Even if I decide to go in this direction my main focus will still be natural light/on location because I love it so much.

This week's assignment: to take a picture of something I've never taken a picture of. As you can see I'm running behind. I'm working on something hopefully I will post it tomorrow. It's like butt freezing here so it's gonna have to be something right here in our house (again). 'Cause I ain't goin' outside. Brrrr.
